Using complete sentences, create a list and describe in detail Picasso’s Guernica. What is the historical context of this work? Why do you think Picasso chose black & white for this very large oil painting? Why do you think he included text-like markings? 2. The Americas

Turning our sights to the Americas during this time period. In Mexico, the Aztec civilization wasn’t conquered by the Spanish until 1521 and the Inka civilization wasn’t conquered by the Spanish until 1532.  Both cultures are fascinating and both cultures had very distinct styles of art before and during the conquest. Using complete sentences, create a list: Choose either the Inka or Aztec culture and discuss, using specific examples (e.g. names), their artwork. Focus in on one specific type of art such as architecture, sculpture, painting, weaving, ceramics, etc.

3. If it ain’t Baroque, don’t fix it
