Alexander is required by his English teacher to do a report on Agatha Christie’s . He doesn’t want to pay money for a book that he doesn’t want to read, so he heads over to the Magnolia Bookstore with the intent to steal it. After locating the book and slipping it inside his jacket, he makes his way to the door but, as he does so, he spots the owner looking directly at him. Fearful that the owner has seen him take the book, Alexander returns the book to the shelf, exactly where it was at the start. Is Alexander guilty of a crime? Explain.
