Write a 1400 word paper in MLA style, with works cited if necessary, which argues a position

The documents are large, so we can’t address whole ones in our compressed time frame. We will limit ourselves for this assignment this way: A position should address one specific Section from One of the two Documents. Each Document displays a taxonomy, that is, an organizational structure, divided by Section.

Some Sections represent Exposition, so a position is difficult to take there. The rest of the Sections represent argumentation, so these Sections are set up to support or oppose.

***SECTION TWO **700 to 900 words
We have introduced the concept of “The Contrarian View” as a way to visualize the opposition. We have discussed impediments to cogent reasoning. We define The Contrarian as an opponent who always takes the strongest, “contrary” view from our premise. It is designed to counter-act the impediment of the writer’s emotional involvement with the topic–that is, The Contrarian s us to understand “what is the exact opposite of this premise, and why?”

In about 700 to 900 words, explore the idea that The Contrarian is a useful rhetorical device for the writer as an aid in developing cogent arguments.
